I just did what scott did and it worked for me as well.  I also noticed
just as I was checking the libsdl1.2debian-all that my libsdl1.2debian-
alsa wasn't checked.  I am curious if that was the real reason why.

Bug description:
There is no sound when previewing a video. I didn't have the audio on the track muted, and pavucontrol showed no sound coming out of the app.
