I can confirm no sound on some videos and correct sound on others.  It
is consistent and related to the video.

So far the videos that do not have sound are downloaded from YouTube.

What other information should I provide, and how can I get it?  I can
provide specific videos that do not have audio or instructions on
getting them from YouTube, and I can get the audio codec information
from the videos I have which do and do not work.

An annoying workaround may be to convert the audio in a video clip to
whatever format is used in the other videos that do play audio.

So while the original poster's issue has been solved, and others have
commented with library issues disabling all sound, this bug item with
its original description seems valid for my issue.

Bug description:
There is no sound when previewing a video. I didn't have the audio on the track muted, and pavucontrol showed no sound coming out of the app.
