Hi John

Nice hearing from you.  Let me give you an update regarding OpenShot.  I
used your latest version 1.3.0 to create a 2 hour plus video, the same video
clips as I used with your previous version that I had importing problems
with.  Here are my findings.  Version 1.3.0 is much improved over your
previous version.  I have a Panasonic ZS7 which produces individual AVCHD
720P video clips.  I was still unable to import over 300 individual video
clips all at one time so I tried importing a few at a time and gradually
working up to all of them.  It's been awhile now so I don't remember the
exact number but I did hit a ceiling where I couldn't import even one more
clip still leaving over 100 clips more to import, so this was my solution.
For example, let's say I have 400 clips.  I import 200 at one time and
render all of them to create one large clip, then I start over and import
and render the remaining 200 clips to create a second large video clip.  Now
I have my entire 2 hour plus video contained in two very large video clips.
Now I'm able to import those two large clips and work with the entire movie.
The only problem is that when editing the video, the scenes are no longer
separated into individual clips and when I need to get rid of bad video, I
then mark it and delete it and close the gap.  Other than that importing
problem, I am very happy with OpenShot.  If the problem never gets fixed,
then at least I have a solution.  I don't have the specs in front of me but
my PC is a quad core with 2 gig of ram.

If it is important, when I get a chance, if you want me to, I can experiment
and find out the exact total number of video clips I'm able to import before
OpenShot hangs.

This bug looks like it is very close to bug 642320.

would probably help your problem when importing videos.

  Congratulation for a great video editor!!!  Here's my objective.
  Using OpenShot 2.2.1 on Ubunti 10.10. Camera is Panasonic ZS7 shooting
  AVCHD lite.  1) Problem importing 200 clips at one time.  Successful
  doing 100 at a time then after 200 clips were imported, I needed to
  back of to 25 at a time.  It seemed to take too much time trying
  another 100 clips after 200 clips were imported.  I was able to
  successfully import 372 (0000 to 0371) clips from one memory card then
  another 103 (0000 to 102) clips from a second. 2) Problem with the
  small icons with each imported video clip.  I had two memory cards,
  the clips were imported from both of them and the second memory card
  had clips 0000 through 103 which was the same id as the other memory
  card's clips.  The actual video was correct but the small icons from
  the second set of clips displayed on the first set of clips. 3)
  Problem with the 300rd clip.  At about 1 hour 26 minutes when I added
  clip 300 to the timeline, the timeline pointer would disapear when I
  tried to view any of the video. It would disapear about 2 seconds at
  the beginning of the video.   Also, OpenShot started crashing. Also,
  earlier, the timeline pointer and it's line would become out of sync
  with each other.  The line seemed to be on video but it's pointer was
  to the right of the line and when the line hit the center point of the
  timeline, they would become aligned.   I had to eliminate clips back
  to about 1 hour 10 minutes then OpenShot seemed to behave enough that
  I could continue with the video in two parts, about an hour each.  I
  had previously added a title at the beginning of the video and I was
  not able to go back and work with it.  When I selected the title I was
  not able to bring up "Font Properties" but I was able to bring up both
  "Pick a Colors".  I deleted the title and created a new one.  No
  problems with exporting to DVD and creating a DVD from it.  The video
  is about one hour 12 minutes long.  I will continue with the next 1
  hour video.  I don't know how many people try to make a 2 hour plus
  movie but I think this was a good test.  Please let me know if more
  information is needed.  I am at work and quickly wrote the above.  I
  hope it isn't too confusing and please E-mail me with any questions.
