Design Summit sessions

Hello everyone,

The track leads finally reviewed all the proposed sessions and we now
have a almost-final program for the Design Summit. You can find the list at:

https://blueprints.launchpad.net/sprints/ods-d

The sessions marked "Drafting" will have a 25-min session, while the
sessions marked "Discussion" will have a 55-min session. Of course, in
both cases the discussion can continue after the session between
interested parties in a break-out area !

If you want to mark yourself "essential" to a discussion, please follow
the process described under "Summit registration" at:

http://wiki.openstack.org/Summit

In order to make room for everything, we had to heavily regroup sessions
that were on similar subjects. In particular you will find:

- "Snapshot, Clone and Boot from volumes" regroups those 3 blueprints
- "API additions" will discuss various new API actions, including server
crontab, admin account actions, hosts collections and search API
- "AuthN/AuthZ service" regroups all discussions around authentication
- "Diablo Testing" will also discuss Multi-Server env for branch testing
- "Notifications and statistics" regroups discussion on a lot of
different proposals, including notification system for Nova and Glance,
Watch API implementation, and statistics gathering
- "RPC improvements" will also discuss No DB messaging

There should be a lot of movement on the Nova networking front, with the
proposed addition of a separate Network as a Service project -- we
booked 4 extra slots to accommodate for the blueprints we expect to be
filed early next week.

We are working on the schedule now, more on this later.

Some sessions on peripheral subjects, accompanying projects or
educational presentations had to be declined. That said, they should
still occur in the self-scheduled unconference area (Thursday and
Friday), so watch that space if you're interested in them:

"OpenStack Cloud Management" (Sebastien Stadil)
Review integration of Scalr with Nova

"Cluster as a Service" (Shigetoshi Yokoyama)
Cluster management tool for multiple openstack clouds, Hadoop, MPI...

"Sequence diagrams (swimlane) for documentation" (Jesse Andrews)
Make our doc using sequence diagrams as text files rendered to images

"Clanavi, a Drupal-based Web Cloud Management System" (Yas Naoi)
A dashboard that covers multiple clouds with management functionalities

"Zones 101 - Overview of Zones & Distributed Scheduler" (Sandy Walsh)
Review what's been done with Zones currently and have a discussion on
how Distributed Scheduler might fit in

"Lessons learned in scaling swift clusters" (John Dickinson)
lessons the swift team at rackspace has learned in managing and growing
large swift deployments

"Windows on OpenStack" (William Ziebell)
Guide you through an implementation of Windows Server 2008 on OpenStack

For more information on the unconference area, feel free to contact
Stephen Spector who will coordinate it (see address in CC).

See you all next week!
