I have 3 vms working with vmware, and I want to install swift to test it on these vms
 should I do any special configuration or i simply use the deployment guide of openstack swift

It works fine in a virtual machine. You should set:
--libvirt_type=qemu
so that it uses software virtualization. Note that the guests will be very slow.
