Can you add new vNICs to running VMs?

Hi,

Is it possible to add more vNICs to running VMs?
For example a VM is started with one interface that is connected to
subnet1. If there is a need to add an another interface/subnet, is it
possible to do this without shutting down/ starting again the VM?
