Sunlight APIs to expose/track influence?
I was just curious if anyone has thought of using the Sunlight APIs
(http://sunlightlabs.com/) to build something to expose/track
influence of anti-Net Neutrality players via lobbying groups and
perhaps even into *actual* government officials campaigns?
I was thinking something along the lines of these two tools already
available from Sunlight Foundation:
* http://poligraft.com/
* https://checking.influenceexplorer.com/
except geared more specifically to the OSDF's cause du jour.
For those who don't know about the Sunlight Foundation, they have a
large collection of APIs which effectively let you access a large
amount of open government data. The APIs are Open Source (under a
variety of licenses, and with bindings in a variety of languages).
If there were interest in such a thing, I'd be willing to help out
with it, though my time is rather limited at the moment and my
web-development experience is more focused on back-end infrastructure-
which basically means I'd need to work on it *with* someone else (who
would be more comfortable crafting a front end to all this mess).
Obviously, if there were interest, we'd have a lot of hashing out of
details first before we could even begin...
So, thoughts? Comments? Crazy idea?
