Re: Spam on the forum

Alright, at tonight's talk we should discuss how to better moderate new registrants, and how difficult registration should be.

For now I've changed the settings so an "admin" (or moderator) must approve new registrations. Permissions are very flexible, so we can have global mods or local board mods. Their permissions are also very tweakable. If you want to see the details, check out http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Category:Permissions#General_Permissions.

There are some measures we implement to prevent bots from making accounts. Can anyone verify the recaptcha is working?
It's working for making accounts (and I just disabled my account
trying to fool it :-)

But as I understand it, Andrew was deleting blogspam from accounts already made.

So, the spam workflow could be (and I'm just speculating here):

Human make an account -> Bot blogspam once account is made (no
captcha on posts)
