Re: Meeting Outline 1-13-11

Sorry I missed the meeting, just finished reading through the log and
bullets.

First thing that popped into my head:
*PayPal Protips*

   - You may only have *ONE* personal and *ONE* business account per SSN
with paypal (unless they very recently changed this, or have some other
magic account levels I never found)
   - If you already have a business account they WILL let you register, add
money, and make transactions. They will then promptly reverse those
transactions and lock your account in a day or so
   - To unlock your new business account you have to jump through *all* of
their verification hoops AND close (or downgrade) your other business
account to get that account unlocked
   - I do not know if this applies to personal accounts as well

*Drupal Theming*
I came across an interesting writeup of the state of the "Drupal Themer" as
a role in Drupal site running (I think coder and content editor were the
other ones for context). The tone was somewhat pessimistic in the sense of
describing that a drupal theme developer has to know drupal internals,
sometimes php, html, css, etc. I've not worked with wordpress enough to
know if this is the case there too. At any rate, I bring it up because it
offers a decent overview of what someone developing a theme for drupal
should get to know about.
<intermission>
And after looking for that link it's nowhere to be found. In the interest
of building a patchwork over that gap (given that it actually exists for us)
I looked around a little bit and found some overviews on how the drupal
theme system works (keep in mind it's changed a little bit in 7, I'm still
trying to get a handle on how much), some php basics, and other things.

PHP Basics:
Ignore the first three paragraphs of e-peen wanking, it's a pretty good
overview

Architectural view of theming

Overview of theme files

About overriding themable output (more for after some basic understanding
is achieved the theme system)

Term to keep an eye on at drupal.org(Themers):

I've listened to about the first five minutes of Grok Drupal
Theming<http://pingv.com/blog/a-peek-at-drupal-7-theme-system-changes>
and
it seems to be a really good introduction to drupal theming as well as the
changes between drupal 6&7. You can watch a stream out of the google
cache<http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:sf2010.drupal.org/conference/sessions/grok-drupal-7-theming>.
Just hit [ESC] until the password prompts go away, then scroll down and play
the video. Alternatively you can download the
mp4<http://www.archive.org/download/GrokDrupal7Theming/tue_1500_303_2_512kb.mp4>from
archive.org.

There is also a changelog/guide to Drupal 6 to 7 theme
changes<http://drupal.org/node/254940> and
the associated TODO item <http://drupal.org/node/740194>.

After hammering that all down a wiki page may have been more appropriate.
