OSHIP Update
Hi All,
It's bee some time since I've sent an update but that doesn't mean
things are stalled. :-)
First of all Roger Erens has worked with others on the Grok team to get
a Windows installation for Grok (and therefore OSHIP) working.
Roberto Siqueira has completed the Mac install instructions.
Thanks to each of you for this essential work.
As Grok nears 1.0 and comes out of alpha (so we can also) I have been
working with the Grok team to validate the community documentation. As
Sebastian Ware so aptly stated; "A framework is only as good as its
documentation". We (OSHIP) should be aware of this as well.
My openEHR/OSHIP lecture at FISL10 http://www.fisl.org.br/10/www/ was
well attended. We had some interesting questions after the event. We
only had time for one question after I finally stopped talking during
the presentation time. The lecture was streamed live, from the main
theater, on the Internet but I haven't been able to yet find out if
there is an archive of the video. What a HUGE event. More than 8200
attendees and even the President of Brazil came to speak.
I was invited kind of impromptu to participate in the 5 minute Python
lightening rounds. Not my best performance I must say. How much can
you say about openEHR/OSHIP in 5 minutes? :-)
We have been invited to setup a booth at PythonBrazil
http://pyconbrasil.com.br/2009 in September. Here we will have plenty
of opportunity to discuss OSHIP, openEHR and health care IT issues in
general.
There is currently discussion on the openEHR implementers list regarding
a connectathon for openEHR based systems during Medinfo2010. I have
started a branch for this demo on Launchpad. My suggestion is that we
use the SOAP note archetypes that Opereffa
http://opereffa.chime.ucl.ac.uk has begun with in order to demonstrate
semantically correct connectivity. There hasn't yet been a response to
that suggestion but I wanted to maintain a separate branch on this
project until it is up and running well.
I even managed to sneak in a few days vacation at my mother in law's
house too.
Cheers,
Tim
