Message #00681
Port Numbers
Hi All,
I'd like some feedback on this as it has become a problem for me and I
know it has or will be a problem for others at some point.
The popular alternate HTTP port number is 8080 (Plone sites/Tomcat,
etc.). This is what we have been using for OSHIP. However; as OSHIP
matures and we bring online HKCR and the CDD (may/may not need a port?)
and other tools that may need to communicate across the internet. I am
considering changing the default ports for our services. There are
several unassigned ranges and I believe I will go through the process of
registering them for MLHIM (so that OSHIP, etc. have listed
http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers assigned port numbers.
I the range 10117-10127 is Unassigned. We need (as my first guess)
probably 10 ports anyway (HTTP/HTTPS for OSHIP & HKCR in WSGI mode also
need to accomodate ZEO installs. Then a couple for CDD (to connect to
HKCR via WebDav). Others??????
Thoughts?
