The initializer lacks the argument parent and so does the superclass initializer.
wouldn't be interesting to define a representation function for this class?
I think that in order for the methods __eq__ and __hash__ to work as expected, the same methods should be implemented ItemStructure and its descendants.

The issue below should be considered in a new MLHIM version:
The method asString seems to be application dependent. I think it should be removed from the specification.
