[Bug 1059325] Re: ubuntu notification OSD shows SSID instead of connection name

 

Mel C, thanks for reporting this, but this is deliberate. The only
reason we say "Wired connection" for those is that they don't have more
specific names. Wi-fi connections do, so we use them.

I've updated the networking design spec to make this explicit.

Bug description:
  Ubuntu notification OSD shows connection name for a wired network as
  per in the network manager setting. but in wireless netwotk ubuntu
  notification shows SSID name instead of connection name.

  Example

  Edit Connections>>Wired>>Wired Network 1
  ubuntu notification OSD displays Wired Network 1 connection established

  but for Wireless network
  ubuntu notification OSD displays the SSID name insted of connection name
