I've started an implementation of this idea that can be found in the
branch lp:~leo.robol/local-medicines. At the moment being I have the
search engine and the dialog to add new medicines. Both are working so
one can add new medicine and then search them in from the GUI.

By the way, I think there should be at least some way to manage them
(now you can't delete a medicine or even edit it). As soon as I will
have implemented that I'll merge the branch in master so this can be
included in the next release.

Title:
  Private medicine database

Bug description:
  I would like to have the ability to enter my own data into the
  medicine tab. The main purpose for my use of this software will be
  with traditional herbal medicines and personally made tinctures. I
  would not be perscribing Rx drugs as I will not be licenced to do
  that, so to me that area is unusable at the moment. Also would it be
  possible to include in the medicines tab after the name and before the
  price a column for recommended dosage.
