I can confirm the latest updated to an Ubuntu Gnome distro and the Padre
package will not run or debug perl code.

This is not the best way to install Padre on a Linux system though, the
latest version of Padre can be download installed using cpan


cpan App::cpanminus
cpanm Alien::wxWidgets
cpanm Wx
cpanm Padre
