BTw, I just updated to 2.6.28-16-generic on a ubuntu 9.10, I noticed vga=791 works perfectly.
I think I put it few months ago to make it work with 2.6.28-15, it didn't work (no error msg though) but I left it and forgot it. And with this newer kernel, it works

Bug description:
the grub default option "vga=791" won't let me boot, I get this error message
then pressing <space> works,

but I think for noobs it's better not having an error message at first boot ;)

removing "vga=791" from menu.lst fixes it (see wiki page)
