[Bug 506921] Re: ISO image is too big to fit on a CD

going through the binary.packages list from the iso, here's what I think
isn't essential on a CD:

abcm2ps
ardour-i686
cinelerracv
dcraw
dvdauthor
dvdstyler
dvdstyler-data
gimp-ufraw
hydrogen (bit useless anyway without the drumkit samples?)
kicad
kicad-common
kicad-doc-en
liquidsoap
rawstudio
subtitleeditor
ufraw
x264 (video encoder binary, not the library)
xchat
xchat-common

one of the two sets of cpp/gcc/g++ (do we need both 4.1 and 4.4), maybe
only one of tcl/tk 8.4 and 8.5 somehow...

imo GIMP is crucial, Inkscape not quite so for me personally...

Status in Puredyne liveCD/DVD/USB/HD: New

Bug description:
Current ISO are too big for CD, we need to bump some packages to DVD.

Priority for CD is realtime audio-visual tools.

The latest ISO I built locally with fresh broth is 753MiB / 788MB which means we need to shift around 53MiB / 56MB, which means that we probably have to be quite brutal.
