Matthew - thanks for the patch.

I incorporated it into the most recent push to trunk with a few changes
to make the exception handling deal with 404 return codes from Jenkins.

Bug description:
  If possible, it would be better to use more specific exception classes
  instead of just catching everything with except since this will mask
  possibly unexpected exception types.
