Hello,

it sounds like you are filling out a PDF form and that should normally
work. The only reason I can currently think of is that Debian did make
use of the experimental Fitz backend instead of the default Poppler one
which would explain this if it is still the case. You could try
installing the dailydebs available at [1] (which should be quite stable
by now) to see if this resolves the issue.

If it does, opening a Debian bug and linking this question would be
nice.
