Hello Brendan,

there's still some issues with the licensing of a few files last time I
checked. I also haven't heard from Anton (above) re: the status of the
package.

The build process has been changed to cmake, instructions here:
http://opencpn.org/compiling_source_linux

Have you tried the precompiled package on opencpn.org?
