is it possible the fix for this created this problem [Bug 623000] 
Authentication is needed to run '/usr/sbin/gnome-power-backlight-helper' as the super user when using "Reduce backlight brightness" or "Dim display when idle" options.? the crash stopped but now have that bug present.
