I have this problem on a Samsung Q45.  I've replaced the battery once
(about 6 months ago) and I now (again) get the 'battery may be damaged'
message.  Running time has been extremely poor even from the initial
replacement of the battery.  1:50 if I'm lucky, sometimes only 40
minutes.  The workaround has not worked for me.  When i first bought
this laptop i was using Hardy, and the battery life was in excess of 4
hours.  This is a serious issue for me, as I spend a lot of time on the
road.
