[Bug 631175] [NEW] Maximum volume is too low

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

The maximum volume on ubuntu is too low. This wouldn't be a problem if
the world was built around linux, but as it is, all media is designed
for windows, so the low volume makes absolute maximum volume audio
almost inaudible.

On my current system for example, the audio is at least 6 times too low
to be usable.

All this should take is a single value edit to bring the volume up to
windows-like settings (Play same audio file in windows and linux at
maximum volume in each to see difference)

PCM and master are at max, the sound preferences, alsamixer and aumix
all show the same 100%

This has only become a problem since I started using weaker speakers,
but volume in Linux has always been noticeably lower than mainstream
operating systems.

This exists in the default ubuntu install (And afaik every other distro)
affects everyone, and should be fixable with one value change...
