[Bug 539814] Re: tar: futimens() with a bad file descriptor (AT_FDCWD) causes bootstrapping failure with kernels < 2.6.22
SRU verification for Lucid:
I have reproduced the problem with tar 1.22-2 in lucid and have verified that the version of tar 1.22-2ubuntu1 in -proposed fixes the issue. I've reproduced the original issue with a lucid chroot on a dapper host. I've run the regression tests and found no regression.
Note that in this configuration dpkg is not usable and fail with the error:
rm: cannot remove `/var/lib/dpkg/tmp.ci/control': Function not implemented
