Hi there,

fyi I have made unoffical .debs of a modern GpsDrive and put them up at:
   http://download.osgeo.org/livedvd/data/gpsdrive/

the latest version of GpsDrive you should be working on trying to get
packaged is 2.11. Don't even bother with the older versions, so much has
been fixed since then.

the latest debian/ build rules are here, and not in that bad shape:
   http://gpsdrive.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/gpsdrive/trunk/debian/

any and all help to take the final steps across the finish line is
hereby requested.
