I have to same issue, I have tried one file at a time. I have tried
several different USB sticks and external HDDs, I get good write speeds
to start and then it goes to a craw before hanging for up to a few
minutes. This has been an issue for me since 10.04, then 10.10 RC and
now on 10.10 final. (64bit) Very frustrating.
