I installed the new xdg-utils and tested. It does not work.

The following command was tried:
$ xdg-email --attach "/home2/mico/images/best/NZ Lake Wakatipu.jpg"

A popup window gave the following message:
An error occurred while creating a message compose window. Please try again.
