on maverick with a vaio vpcs111fm ,I installed dkms modules from comment #81 ,same conclusion 
left speaker not working ,i was able to use int mic

i was able to use external mic ,using hda analiser and moving some value
(but you need to do this every time you reboot ) ,no way for the other
speaker

without mic no voip possible !!!!!!!!!!
