Didier Barvaux proposed the following answer:
I hoped to release it in February, but I missed some free time to
finalize the last pieces. I'll have probably defer the python binding
for 1.8.0, but I have to finish the API rework before the release. There
are 1 or 2 days of work, but I don't know when I'll be able to do it.
