Dear Sirs, I have just installed the Karmic Koala RC, kernel 2.6.31-14, and
the backlight issue is still going on.

Should it be logical to think it will be corrected with the 9.10 final
version and/or the kernel 2.6.32?


When using
xrandr --output LVDS --set BACKLIGHT_CONTROL legacy

I get
X Error of failed request: BadRROutput (invalid Output parameter)
Major opcode of failed request: 149 (RANDR)
Minor opcode of failed request: 15 (RRGetOutputProperty)
Serial number of failed request: 36
Current serial number in output stream: 36


and when using
xrandr --output LVDS1 --set BACKLIGHT_CONTROL legacy

I get
X Error of failed request: BadName (named color or font does not exist)
Major opcode of failed request: 149 (RANDR)
Minor opcode of failed request: 11 (RRQueryOutputProperty)
Serial number of failed request: 37
Current serial number in output stream: 37



I am thinking on going back to 9.04 where there was a usable workaround
(maybe creating a new partition for the time being.
