extending the attendance journal

Right now, the attendance journal also allows you to record a score
for each day with a value from 1-10. This works well because all the
scores are one character.

Naturally, as soon as you allow people to enter a score, they want to
use *their* scoring system. This is understandable but immediately
gets tricky since, for example, you currently enter "a" for an
absence, and one common grading scale also starts with "A."

Also, there are additional attendance oriented features which will
need to be added to the journal. For example, noting by how many
minutes a student is tardy.

While the scoring functionality in the journal is handy, it is
secondary to the journal's attendance role.

So I'm suggesting the following changes:

* allow arbitrary score systems to be assigned to a teacher's journal.

* require a separate keystroke before a score is entered to avoid
clashing with other journal codes. For example, hitting the spacebar
makes sense.

* Further on, this might also be accessed via right mouse click, etc.

Thoughts?
