Next steps in Screenlets
Hi all,
Papp Bence has reviewed a most of bugs in the bug tracker and has
finished making all the individual Screenlets translatable. There could
be still some bugs because of gettexting, but huge amount of work is
done. There are already some translations to French, Hungarian, Spanish
and Estonian at https://translations.launchpad.net/indiv-screenlets.
One of the next steps is that we should make the official 0.1.3 source
release for people who want to package or test Screenlets. For that, I
think we need the feedback if the Screenlets work fine in alpha version
of Natty Narwhal and maybe GNOME 3.0. If somebody can test these things,
it would be great. I cannot do it myself, because Natty won't run on my
computer for some reason. If this is tested and fine, then we can just
release 0.1.3, since it is definitely much more adequeate than 0.1.2
(although there are still couple of evident annoyances).
Also, if Rico or anybody else has some code to be merged from their
local branches, it's high time to do it.
Concerning this release, I think some more screenlets should be added to
Basic Pack, but I'm not sure which ones. See question
https://answers.launchpad.net/screenlets/+question/140494 about that and
give us your ideas.
If user wants more screenlets than in Basic Pack, these can be
downloaded from the PPA. There shoud be an easy way to add PPA. See
wishlist entry https://bugs.launchpad.net/screenlets/+bug/699695 about
that and give us your ideas.
After the release of 0.1.3 we should probably make a brainstorm about
the plans for the future of the project and make some announcement about
that. This may also include a invitation for new and old developers to
join the project.
Merging the code with Universal Applets can still wait and fixing all
the individual screenlets is always a work in progress anyway.
Sincerely "etc"
Guido Tabbernuk
