I was able to resolve this exact issue. However, to do so I had to
completely reinstall Ubuntu and install Screenlets before updating
Ubuntu at all. All Screenlets are working correctly now. Hopefully
someone will have a not-so-drastic fix, but fortunately for me I had
just installed Ubuntu anyway, so I didn't really have anything to lose
with a complete reinstall.
