Sorry, might be total nonsense (was before the first coffee ;-)

since it only works, if the mouse pointer  IS ALREADY on the menu item,
which might not be the fact, if you opened the menu using keyboard
shortcuts.

Have a lookout for alternative key combinations, that might do the same.
