If a screenshot is started, the screen gets an grey transparent overlay.
Do you get this?

Does the screen get scrambled before or after you select a region on the
screen?

How do you recover from this situation?

How does the taken screenshot look?

What happens if you try the following from commandline:

echo from sikuli.Sikuli import * ; capture() | java -cp
"c:\Programs\Sikuli X\sikuli-script.jar" org.python.util.jython

Bug description:
  I am using Sikuli X-1.0rc2 on Win XP 32-bit. When I try to make a
  screenshot or a region screenshot my screen (2 screens) looks like on
  the attachment image.
