Hi, can you tell me the improtance or say use of modifiers Specially in type??

Actully my requirement is like...i have 2 text boxes in a page ,Say user-name & Password,
when i ma using screen.type function..then before completing typing in username feild..in my script type password is called & password is entered in same username feild.
1 SOlution is to use sleep functionality..
But i want my Script to be robust,Soplease help me out.
