Appreciate your assistance.  Your suggestion to use the Run dialog box is simplier than using a Command prompt.  But still prefer that the App.open command work on fully qualified path programs.

Your suggestion of using raw mode for type was worth trying, but
unfortunately still problematic.  Seems that the Java app does not
accept any type of input via Sikuli.  Although I can see the visual
notation (red circle) being displayed at each apparent click, the
application does not receive the mouse clicks.  Furthermore, the
application still does not receive the keyboard input even in raw mode.

Any other ideas before RaiMan returns?
