RaiMan proposed the following answer:
with the current release rc2, the Key stuff is not available directly in
Java, as on the Python level. (see faq 1444)

This is totally revised and consolidated in rc3, so the API is identical now on both levels.
You might try the latest build of rc3, there it is available already.
