Re: [Question #171193]: Is Sikuli free for commecial use?

Question #171193 on Sikuli changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/sikuli/+question/171193

RaiMan proposed the following answer:
--- Scripts copyright In my understanding:
Since the Sikuli scripts are not self contained (they always need Sikuli to be available on the machine), they do not need the Sikuli copyright. On the other hand, if you make them public, you may not restrict the usage of your scripts. Their usage and the sources have to be as free as Sikuli itself is.
Same goes for every other program or script, that somehow (directly via API or indirectly via co/subprocessing) use Sikuli features (e.g. the QTP case), but only when you make them publicly available somehow.

You have another situation, if you decide to invest in some Java
programming to integrate Sikuli in a package, that only internally uses
the Sikuli features. If you include Sikuli into your package and make
this package public, the usage has to be free and the sources have to
publicly available under the same license.

So this solution can never be commercial.

If you want to setup a commercial solution, this can never contain any
Sikuli components (but may of course contain Sikuli scripts or other
stuff, that needs Sikuli to be on the machine). The user of your
solution is responsible to setup Sikuli himself as a prerequisite for
your solution. (this is comparable to solutions, that are built on
Java).

--- output
generally does not need a copyright

But since I am not the developer, contact the developer directly, if you
are not sure about your scenario.
