RaiMan proposed the following answer:
On my Win7 with rc3, opening scripts works fast (instantly).

What might slow down the opening of scripts is the fact, that the contained images have to be converted to thumbnails. This might be significant if the script contains many images.
But I do not have any experience about the possible effect.
