When I am downloading xlrd to folder some-folder and extract it there, accepting the standards, I get the following folder structure:
some-folder\xlrd-0.7.1\xlrd-0.7.1\xlrd
So pls. check again the path to the folder xlrd.
But as already mentioned, I suggest
-- make a folder Lib in ....\Sikuli X\
-- and COPY the xlrd folder there
-- then you might delete the 2 contained folders doc and examples in ...\Sikuli X\xlrd, since they are not needed at runtime and you still have them in the extracted stuff.
Then you would not need the sys.path manipulation
