I do not have lucid to test it, but it seems to be a problem of Java AWT
transparent screen handling. I know, that some others had this problems
in the past on Ubuntu (or other linux based) installations.

Do you have the newest Java installed, that is available for your
environment?

Any chance to test it in a Windows/Mac environment (where it works for
me)?
