I had the same question, and had looked at the docs beforehand. I guess the way it's organized was not clear at first glance. I had tried a number of ways to make use of down key. After looking at the link provided by RaiMan again, I found the answer.
Here is the way that finally worked for me:

type (Key.DOWN, KEY_CTRL)
