RaiMan proposed the following answer:
If the images in both resolutions stay the same on the pixel level, then
they should be found. In this case the dpi value is the same
horizontally and vertically in both cases, this means, there should not
be any pixel manipulation by the system caused by stretching needs.

So It might be, that the application, the images are from, is aware of
the higher resolution and uses a different rendering approach, which
leads to differences on the pixel level.

You should check this with 2 samples of the same image in the different
resolutions using an image tool, that allows magnifying to grade, that
makes the pixels visible.

If there are significant differences (which I guess are), then you need
different image sets for the 2 resolutions.
