RaiMan proposed the following answer:
To run Sikuli features (script or Java):
- the machine needs a valid Sikuli installation (the IDE should work)
- the machine must have a real screen active (not headless) at time of script run

If you are not sitting in front of this machine, there are some
approaches, to trigger scripts from remote and get information back
(VNC, XML-RPC, ssh, ...).
