RaiMan proposed the following answer:
you can put the following JRE option on the Java commandline in the .sh:

-Dsikuli.console=false

This should give you more output to the terminal about the problem.

Later today you might try with the new version (Since the main download
is made for Java 7, I will provide jar's additionally, that are made for
Java 6)
