RaiMan proposed the following answer:
def takeShot(filename):
    import shutil
    shutil.move(capture(SCREEN), filename))

... and then use 
takeShot("some-path/.../some-name.png")

and you will have the image on the filesystem at
some-path/.../some-name.png
