Bumped into the same problem.

Found a workaround:
 - the failed install left the file behind in <setupdir>libs/libjpeg.8.dylib
 - copy that one to /usr/local/lib (with sudo)

A bit crude but it worked for me.

Obviously the logic is looking in the wrong place for the dylib, I did
not look into the details, probably RaiMan will know...
