Hi, I'm having exactly the same problem using JAVA api for 1.0.1:

Error opening data file tessdata/tessdata/eng.traineddata
Please make sure the TESSDATA_PREFIX environment variable is set to the parent directory of your "tessdata" directory.
Failed loading language 'eng'
Tesseract couldn't load any languages!

The strange thing is that it started this morning. I didn't have any
problem yesterday evening and didn't modify the code or cleaned my app.

Is there a way to override TESSDATA_PREFIX variable?
