I tried this in TextEdit and it works.
So, I guess my question is what is different?
I am trying to paste into BlueStacks (Android emulator).
I can paste manually (command-v) and it is correct.

Is there a conversion that is happening on the back end that is trying to keep it mac and it is pasting into android? 
Sounds weird, but it's the only thing I can think of.
